Volunteer Opportunities

Our organization is dedicated to promoting the refuge and it conservation activities, organizing events, and providing volunteer resources for refuge activities.

Prairie Restoration - contact Vic Miles (816) 444-2459.

Squaw Creek NWR has some of the best Loess Bluff habitat in the world. These bluffs support a number of threatened and endangered prairie species. To insure the continue existence of prairie habitat on the refuge, FOSC has been asked to help clear and restore sections of the bluffs. Two areas to the west of the headquarters have been designated as the first to be cleared and some work has already been completed, but there is much left to accomplish.

Visitor Center - contact Vic Miles (816) 444-2459

Volunteers staff the visitor center during migration seasons in the fall and winter. These volunteers greet visitors, help answer questions about the refuge, help visitors with sales of merchandise and other simple work from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays and Sundays, October through early December and March through early May each year.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join in the fun at Squaw Creek NWR.

Refuge Wetlands - contact Vic Miles (816) 444-2459.

One of the easiest ways to help the refuge, call Vic today!

Refuge Grounds

Help maintain the grounds around the Headquarters and trails. Contact George Scheil (816) 353-9024 if you would like to help with this effort.

Eagle Days - contact Amanda Griffin (660) 442-3187.

This annual event includes tours of the refuge, a live eagle exhibit and activities for the whole family. If you would like to help with this event, please contact us at (660) 442-3187.
